Holiday Make up and Gift Ideas

Since the holidays are on the way, it would be fun to pump up the season even more, with our make up! In order to complement the holiday color–red, a crystal white shimmery/glitter eye color would really give an extra taste to te season. Christian Dior has a single eye color that just perfectly fits into the needs! The color is white based but has a shade of silver that gives the glow.

Another option is also from Christian Dior–The Christmas Look.  It’s Dior’s new pallet for the season and also with a sheen accent!

Paul & Joe– Eye Gloss

Paul & Joe is originally from the US. but has been very popular in Asian countries because of its pleasant packaging and the scent of orange flower. The philosophy of the line is to create a flawless and fresh look. Following the company’s center approach, Paul & Joe’s eye glosses are the most wearable for the natural and fresh look. It’s a cream to jell type texture and it’s very smooth on the eyes. It spreads out easily, and covers the entire eyelid with a small amount. The quality it creates is beautiful, and I would recommand it to both beginer and advancer!

Here’s a website for those of you are considering trying the product–>

The Mineral Pigments

Since the mineral make up walked into the cosmetic world, it has been one of the most popular make up item in store. Mineral powder cosmetics include variety of items, such as the mineral powder foundation, which was the first mineral powder item, blushes, and multi-usage pigments. Based on personal experience, the multi-usage powder pigments fit the name that is really”multiple usage”. The powder is made by numbers of pure minerals and pure pigments, so it is harmless to the skin and “fit” on to the skin. The pigments can be used as lip colors, used as a dye on hair and of course eyeshadows. The mineral itself is very thin and easy to break, so its feature makes mineral powder products fit on to skin and absorb excess oil. Just simply take an eyeshadow brush, tab a small amount of pigment, and tap off excess before application. The power is very pigmented, so be aware to use light handed!!

NARS–Gorgeous Pigments

NARS is one of the professional cosmetic line. Its pigments are what make it significant and brilliant. Francois Nars is one of the founder of the brand, his philosophy of beauty celebrates the originality, independent spirit and fearless self-expression of women. “Waht interest me is character. I’ve always been atracted to faces with personality, strength, and a unique quality. That is beauty.”–Francois Nars

NARS may not has the largest collection of colors, but it definitely has the boldest expression. It is very fun to play with for advancer, and there are some pallets that are good and simple for beginer as well. I’m personally having fun with the pigments and love the clean cut, modern look packaging!!~ Take a look into the brand and try it yourself!!

New beloved item–Chic Choc- MIX Shiny Colors for Eyes

I’ve recently gotten the “Queen” magazine from Taiwan, and it came with a blue shimmer shadow pallet as a gift. It’s from the cosmetic brand “Chic Choc” originally fron Japan. The series has five colors, and everyone of them are designed to make a lively and girly look. Each pallet has basiclly three layers of color, and they can be apply alone or mixed. The pigmentation is gorgeous and gives an instant spot light to the eyes.

Gorgeous eyes on a budget

We all know that department store cosmetics’ quality is mostly guaranteed, but the price is sometimes hardly affordable. How can we still looking good and fresh when we are on a budget? Majollica Majorca is a oven-shelf cosmetic line from Shiseido. The eyeshadow pallets can do a pretty job with an affordable price.  The line contains eight different set of colors so far, and every pallet has done a good job achieving the appearance.

Here’s a website that can help you if you are thinking about getting this product and saving your budget!!

Deep shimmery eyes

“Maqluillage Eye Creator 3D” is a recent eye shadow collection of Shiseido cosmetics. The collection has eight pallets and each pallets contain one base color, one main color, one dark color, one high light color, one eyeliner, and two sponge applicators. The total five colors are all in cream texture and contain shimmer. The collection came out approximately six months ago and was popular in Japan and Taiwan for its “deep eye” look. Like most Japanese eye shadows the pallets include a transparant guiding sheet that leads the users to achieve the look. Base on personal experience after using this pallet, I like the look it creates but the cream texture is a little hard to work with, especially when spreading the colors. After all, the performance and outcome is satisfying and beautiful if be aware of the texture.

New toy

Introducing the new toy– “Jelly Eye Color” from Jillstuart. It’s a jelly-like texture eyeshadow, it’s very easy to apply and fun to use. There are 10 colors in the series, every color is gourgous in my opinion, and can be used alone or use other shadow a layer over.

Just a little help for anyone who is interested in the product, here’s few websites you can get it—

Asain style vs. Western style

Eyeshadows’ styles are different between Asian countries and western countries. Because Asian countries such as Japan, Taiwan, and Korea prefer women to be “cute, sweet and innocent”, and these are mostly seen as “sexy” in Asian countries. In another hand, western countries such as America, England, and France mostly prefer women to be “mature” and tihs is often to be seen as sexy.
Of course there are personal preference in any country, and this is just for general speaking. The cultural difference differs the insight of beauty, so the style of cosmetic becomes a key point.
Comparing to western style, Asian eyeshadow uses more shimmer than sheen color, because the sheen may make their eyes seem puffier. And the shimmer also matches the style of “cute, sweet, and innocent”, it creates a dreamy look. Even Asian also uses dark colors to create “deeper insight” look, they mostly add shimmer in the eyeshadow. In contrast, western style uses powdery texture more than shimmer because they prefer a neutral look. Even with heavy make up they use darker color to create a “mature and wild” look instead of “cute and innocent”.
